William is a partner and senior counsel at Valin Partners.

He has practiced law in North Bay since 1976. William conducts a general practice, including municipal law, administrative law, civil and criminal litigation, real estate and estates, and corporate and commercial law.
 
William has represented municipal, institutional and individual clients before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Municipal Board, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, the Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal and Municipal Committees of Adjustment and Planning Boards. Mr. Brunton is counsel to a number of municipalities and institutions.

William graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Industrial Engineering) in 1971. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1974 and was called to the Bar in l976.

William is a past member and chairman of the Board of Governors of the North Bay General Hospital. He has been active as a coach, manager and trainer in North Bay Minor Hockey and baseball. He is a past member of the Kiwanis Club of Nipissing and has been the local representative on the governing council of the Canadian Bar Association (Ontario) as well as the Vice President of the Nipissing Law Association.

He is married to Catherine Valin and has two children, Andrew and Matthew.
