Shawn Hamilton

Shawn is an associate at Valin Partners LLP.  He conducts a general litigation practice including family law, criminal law, corporate and commercial law, and municipal law.

Shawn was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2001.  He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Dalhousie University in 1995 and then completed his legal studies at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctor in 1998.  As a law student, Shawn was an active member of Downtown Legal Services, the University of Toronto’s poverty law clinic, with carriage of several files from the Academic Appeals and Criminal Law divisions.  Shawn was also a member of the Native Law Students Association providing admissions liaison and mentoring support for First Nations applicants and students.  After articling and practicing with a provincial regulator, Shawn worked extensively with a number of Canadian chartered banks in Toronto providing advice and counsel on corporate governance and compliance best practices.   

Born and raised in North Bay, in his spare time Shawn enjoys fishing, hiking, and travel.  Shawn is married and has two children, Shannon and Matthew.
