Barbara Morland Wellard

Barbara is Valin Partner's managing partner.
She graduated from Queens University with a Bachelor of Laws in 1978. Barbara has practiced law in North Bay since 1980. She conducts a general practice which includes civil litigation, real estate and estates, corporate and commercial law and family law with an emphasis on collaborative family law. She has taken extensive training in both mediation and the collaborative family law process.
Barbara has represented municipal, institutional and individual clients before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Municipal Board, the Highway Transport Board, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, and Municipal Committees of Adjustment and Planning Boards. She has, in the past, been counsel to the Nipissing and District Parry Sound Children’s Aid Societies. She is a preferred counsel for Law Pro. She was a member of the Ontario Civilian Commission on Police Services for six years in which capacity she presided over appeals under the Police Services Act.
Mrs. Wellard was a founder and is a past Chair of the Nipissing Transition House. She was instrumental in the successful fund raising campaign for the North Bay Capitol Centre and she co-chaired the business and professionals section for the recent $15,000,000 capital campaign for North Bay’s new Regional Health Centre. She is currently Chair of the North Bay Regional Hospital Foundation. She is an avid competitive golfer and has represented Northern Ontario at the Provincial Level.
She is married to John Warren Wellard and they have two children, Michael and Lindsay.
